October is the Museums and Galleries Month in accordance to the Proclamation No. 798 signed by the late Philippine President Corazon Aquino, on Sept. 12, 1991.
The proclamation highlights the need to awaken national consciousness and pride for the country’s rich culture and national identity, “expressed in all media of art and culture, historical and religious artifacts”. The National Museum is the lead agency in the country, in charge of the official commemoration of this annual event.

On May 22, the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced that staycations and hotel bookings are already opened for tourists from areas that are under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified general community quarantine.
The Administrative Order 2020-002 states that hotels, resorts, motels, homestays, and other accommodation facilities are already allowed to operate and accept tourists as well as business travellers in GCQ and MGCQ areas, but are limited to a 50 percent capacity.

Pssst… Tagaytay is now open for tourists!
Tagaytay City now welcomes tourists and visitors who would like to visit the place under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) status, City Administrator Gregorio Monreal confirmed on Saturday, September 5.
However, the City Administrator said that tourists should follow minimum health standards including physical distancing, and wearing of face masks to avoid the further spread of COVID-19. Monreal also added that checkpoints at entry points to Tagaytay will be maintained.

PH starts allowing foreign travelers: Here's what you need to know
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced on July 17, 2020. Friday, in a statement, that Philippines will begin to allow the entry of foreign nationals with long-term visas or immigrant visas starting August 1, 2020, as the country starts to gradually lift some coronavirus restrictions to support its economy.
