Will Robredo continue to narrow the gap on Pulse Survey?
By Hannah Touchette 07 Apr 2022 757

Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. continues to dominate the latest Pulse Asia survey results, meanwhile, Vice President Leni Robredo narrows the gap with a 9% increase across all regions and income levels represented by the poll.

Based on the latest Pulse survey, Marcos Jr. 's rating, despite the big lead, dropped by 4% points from his February 2022 numbers of 60%. On the other hand, closest rival, Robredo, recorded her all-time highest rating in any pre-election survey from Pulse Asia of 24% from 15% in February as her rating jumped by 9%.

Behind Marcos Jr. and Robredo were Manila Mayor Isko Moreno (8%), Sen. Manny Pacquiao (6%), and Sen. Ping Lacson (2%). Meanwhile, Faisal Mangondato, Ernie Abella, Jose Montemayor Jr , Leody de Guzman, and Noberto Gonzales all got less than 1% each in the survey.

Marcos Jr. rating fell in all areas and socioeconomic groups – 2% drop in the National Capital Region (NCR), 4% in Balance Luzon, 5% in Visayas, and the biggest drops in Mindanao of 6%. He also got the highest decrease recorded among Class E respondents, falling from 58% to 52%.

Robredo, on the other hand, who had previously seen 2 consecutive drops from the Jan. 19-24 and Feb. 8-23 polls, is now seeing significant changes in her voting preference. She rose by 9% both in Visayas and Mindanao, and her highest in Balance Luzon by 14%. However, she was 1% lower in NCR. Among socioeconomic classes, her rating went up to 13% in Class C, 10% in Class D and 9% in Class E.

According to Barry Gutierrez, Robredo’s spokesperson, “The survey numbers are starting to reflect what we have been seeing on the ground all along: the massive crowds, the fierce passion, the untiring commitment of Filipinos from all walks of life, coming together to rally behind Leni Robredo’s bid for the Presidency..”

It was also in March when VP Robredo and running mate, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan continued to draw massive crowds in their campaign rallies across the country, with the Pasig Rally as their biggest campaign sortie that happened on March 20.

The survey sampled 2,400 adults aged 18 yrs. old and above was conducted between March 17 and 21, and was publicized on Wednesday, April 6.
