Netflix proudly presented a movie that depicts the real happenings in the government and science today. Starring Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCarpio, the story is about how the US government take action to the comet that will hit the Earth which eventually turns into a doom’s day.
The two main actors are the scientists in the movie who discovered the comet and tried to convince the US government to take an immediate action about it before it hits the Earth’s surface. Away from the first theory of the viewers (probably), the president herself did not take much attention in it.
Here’s how the movie proves that money runs the government (at some point)
- The US president’s first reaction in the movie upon hearing that a comet hitting the Earth’s surface might cause a 99% “end of the world” is meh. It means that she did not take it seriously and emphasizes “let’s sit back and think of that for a while.”
- There was a scene in the movie when the US government eventually took a chance in eliminating the comet before it hits the Earth. But it’s just for publicity since the president was caught on guard for a certain issue.
- When the NASA spaceships are about to take off, it suddenly went back to Earth’s atmosphere because of another theory that interrupted the president’s mind.
- In connection to number 3, Peter Isherwell a rich tycoon who runs a most advance technology business in the US presented another theory that can make him and the US government richer than ever by using the comet itself. They thought of turning the comet into pieces and getting all the metals and gems inside of it to be used for business. Not to mention, using multiple advance drown machines to crash a comet as big as Mt. Everest.
- Lastly, during the doom’s day (obviously, the latter option did not work at all in saving the Earth) the president, Peter Isherwell and other rich men went out of the Earth and proceeds to another planet. But the species in that planet eat them alive so they did not survive as well.
And that’s it! Don’t Look Up (2021) is definitely a must watch because it opens everyone’s eye in the reality of what’s really happening in the government today. Also, it provides an eye-awakening scenario about the other side of scientists' lives. They really create multiple studies to come up with facts in which citizens and government should not be taking for granted of.
