Are you one of those ecstatic humans who roamed around the malls and roads last weekend and tend to forget the risk of getting infected with the virus? You’ve got a wrong move pal!
Many have freely gone outside and depicted a ‘feast-alike’ scenario after Metro Manila has shifted to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) from a two-month strict measure under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
As quarantine rules were relaxed beginning Saturday, May 16, 2020, it partially reopened malls and allowed operations of some business industries. People who badly missed the outside world have rushed to shopping malls and kept everything at ease amid the threat of COVID-pandemic.
Well, we, Filipinos are very persistent in nature and as adventurous human beings, thinking about breaking the rules might give us some fun. But, why are people going out in the first place despite the threat?
Here are some of their many reasons:
TO SEE THE OUTSIDE WORLD
Just two months ago, we were all forced to stay at home. Admit it, many have gone anxious due to the uncertainties of time. The thrust of excitement has made them decide to go outside and feel what it’s like to be in it again for the first time in a little while.
They want to experience the pre-quarantine feels they have missed. Missing the world outside is not a valid excuse to roam around and ditch the idea of getting infected with the virus at any moment while staying outdoor.
Do our country a favor, PLEASE STAY AT HOME!
TO GET SOME AIR
Our times inside the comfort of our homes have been difficult for some reason. Some are facing internal battles and worrying about the effects of pandemic simultaneously, it may sound selfish but they went outside to inhale some air to desist some dark thoughts ruining their focus.
As petty at it may seem, a little walk to keep us sane is good as long as we’re following the safety protocols implemented but again, this is NOT the best time to go outside as we might encounter the unseen enemy anywhere, hang in there!
DON’T BE A CARRIER OF VIRUS TO YOUR LOVED ONES!
TO RUN SOME ERRANDS
Many took the time to fix some personal errands knowing that some of the essential services were partially reopened. These people have gone outside for their own important purposes—be it for payment and grocery shopping, they have chosen to risk their lives.
STAY SAFE ALWAYS PALS!
TO EARN A LIVING
After shifting to Modified ECQ, some jobs were also reopened and many Filipino workers have started to go back and work amid the threat of coronavirus disease 2019.
This is a sad reality, some of us have gone outside for our own pleasures but many have left with no choice but to hustle and continue life again like it’s a normal day--how awful, isn’t it?
MALLING IS PART OF THE CULTURE
Admit it, malling is part of our culture. Many were eager to go out and visit the malls last weekend—the opportunity they have waited for a lot of reasons.
Malls were allowed by the government to operate and cater to the needs of the customers. Owners just have to comply with strict guidelines and rules.
Hence, cooperation from mall-goers is required. After all, our safety is still our own responsibility and if something happens we should not put the blame on others.
With all these reasons, many are still firm in not going out unless mass testing will be implemented first. They don’t want to lose two-month gains for anything.
Going out is strictly prohibited unless it’s necessary and beneficial for the family.
Before you step off of your feet, come to think of it many time pal!
Was it a wrong move to halt the strict rules? Was it too early for the government to soften some regulations and be at ease while the number of positive cases is still spiking up?
How about you, are you all good with the MECQ guidelines and implementations?
