No, it’s not an actual apology, she’s ‘kinda’ sorry for her ‘drama-serye’ words over Nacino’s grief.

MMDA Spokesperson Celine Pialago has been under fire since last Saturday, October 18, after earning the ire of netizens when she commented on the plight of detained activist Reina Mae Nasino and deceased child as a ‘drama-serye’.

In a Facebook post on her official account, Pialago started off her statement towards the political prisoner issue by saying that not all mothers in prison are able to visit the burial of their children.

“Kaya kung sumisimpatya kayo kay Reina Mae Nasino, pag-aralan niyo mabuti ang dahilan bakit siya nakulong at kilalanin niyong mabuti kung sino siya” she wrote in her post. “Masyado ninyong ginagawang pang drama serye sa hapon ang paghihinagpis niya. Tigilan niyo!!” she added.

On her take regarding the issue, she firmly said that people are “sensationalizing” and using it to gain attention from the public which received a huge amount of rage from the Philippines’ online world.

Meanwhile, it seems like the air ‘kinda’ shift its direction. Pialago, on Monday, October 19, clarified that the drama-serye” she was referring to people who were "capitalizing" on Nasino's situation.

In an interview of ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo, she said: "What I’m pointing out during that time ay 'yung mga tao na namamantala dun sa sitwasyon ni Ms. (Reina). Hindi po ito ang paghihinagpis ng isang ina kasi 'yung iba ho ang tingin eh inaatake ko po ang pagkawala ng anak ni Ms. (Reina).”

Pialago said she would apologize to those who found her "drama serye" remark insensitive but remain firm on her take on why Nasino was surrounded by dozens of armed guards as she laid her daughter to rest.

"Dun naman po sa pamilya, kung magaapologize po ako sa salita na drama serye sa paghihinagpis niya bilang isang ina, I’m sorry. But for who you are, kung sino ka, kung bakit ka madaming security that I won’t apologize," she said.

The MMDA Spokesperson was sorry for the wrongful remark she made and the impression of attacking the mother, but she’s not sorry for the rest of her post.

At least she’s sorry, but not wholeheartedly. What do you think guys?
