MANILA- On March 23, 2022, Commission on Elections (COMELEC) finally granted the Office of the Vice President to continue its pandemic-related programs amidst the election campaign.
Barry Gutierrez, Vice President Leni Robredo’s spokesperson, released a statement welcoming the decision of the poll body.
“We thank the Comelec en banc for their action on the OVP’s request. We are currently waiting for a full copy of the resolution to ensure that we have clear guidance on implementation of programs included in the granted exemption. We will release an official public advisory once we have all relevant details in hand,” he said.
Last month when the Election 2022 campaign period officially started, the programs held by the office were halted. Vice President Robredo then filed a petition to allow her office to continue its pandemic-related programs such as Bayanihan E-Konsulta, Vaccine Express, Swab Cab and medical assistance, even during the official campaign period.
