A lot of Filipinos are still in the verge of asking themselves “what type of vaccine should I get?”
With the rapid increase of positive cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines, the national government together with the Local Government Units and Department of Health ordered millions of vaccine for immunization. Two brands among the variety of vaccines have been talk of the town. The Pfizer and Sinovac.
“Magiging zombie ka after two years!” this kind of humor is already buzzing to a lot of cities and municipalities who are using Sinovac-CoronaVac in vaccinating their people. Different from the mere allegation, Sinovac is one of the cheapest and efficient vaccine in town. According to World Health Organization, “No differences in safety profile of the vaccine in older adults compared to younger age groups can be anticipated, countries considering using this vaccine in persons older than 60 years should maintain active safety monitoring.” They also mentioned that it has an efficacy of 51% against symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection, 100% against severe COVID-19, and 100% against hospitalization starting 14 days after receiving the second dose.
Pfizer on the other hand has been tagged with a label “Safer basta Pfizer”. No wonder that people are more comfortable in this brand of vaccine because WHO said that, “Pfizer BioNTech vaccine against COVID-19 has an efficacy of 95% against symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection.” However, it is more expensive than the other brands of vaccine.
The common after effects of vaccination in human body are heavy muscle, swollen arm and fever. It is normal to experience because the immune system is adapting to the dosage taken by the body itself.
At the end of the day, might it be Sinovac or Pfizer, the bottom line here is vaccination is a must. Boost your system against Covid-19 virus. Protect yourself and protect others.
