After making its presence felt in the local TV scene in the past years, one of the local media giant TV5 started to level up its game by announcing its more than a dozen new and upcoming shows, mostly composed of Kapamilya personalities.
In a previous online press conference, TV5 President and Chief Executive Ray C. Espinosa unveiled the network’s immense confidence to challenge the dominance of ABS-CBN Corp. and GMA Network, Inc. at the top of the TV ratings charts in various areas of the country.
“Our goal is to overtake the competition and win by giving viewers something new, something they will look forward to watch on TV,” said Espinosa.
He said more array of fresh TV shows will be launched this year to prove that the network is well prepared and ready to take off of the two other media giants for a battle for local TV ratings.
“Hindi kami magpapahuli. We want to prove that TV5 is a major network, and we can provide shows that have more quality, more originality and more excitement,” he said.
During the virtual launching, the network unveiled its new and upcoming TV shows:
- Pilipinas News, which replaces the news show Aksyon Journalismo
- Revamped morning show Sapul Sa Singko and renamed it Good Morning Club.
- Insider, which offers behind-the-scene glimpses of how some of the country’s most interesting institutions operate.
- Chika, BESH! (Basta Everyday Super Happy), a new morning show hosted by Ria Atayde, Pauleen Luna and Pokwang.
- Fit for Life, a fitness show that aims to inspire people to commit to a healthier lifestyle, hosted by Jessy Mendiola.
- Usapang Real Life, hosted by veteran broadcaster Luchi Cruz-Valdez. Also, reports said that new "Darna" Jane de Leon and news anchor Karen Davila will be the show's first guests.
- Bawal na Game Show, to be hosted by Eat Bulaga TV hosts and comedians Wally Bayola and Paolo Ballesteros.
- Fill in the Bank, Jose Manalo and Pokwang will host this new show.
- Bangon Talentadong Pinoy, hosted by Ryan Agoncillo, the new talent show will feature Filipino creativity in the middle of the pandemic. According to TV5, John Arcilla, Janice de Belen and Joross Gamboa will be the talent scouts in the pilot episode.
TV5 will also launch its upcoming projects with Brightlight Productions; a TV production company in the PH headed by former Negros Occidental representative Albee Benitez:
- Sunday Noontime Live, a new Sunday noontime show, composed of kapamilya stars Maja Salvador, Piolo Pascual, Catriona Gray, Donny Pangilinan, Jake Ejercito and more.
- Sunday ‘Kada, a Sunday afternoon show, starred by Maxine Medina, Ritz Azul, Daniel Matsunaga, and Jayson Gainza.
- Lunch Out Loud (LOL), TV5’s noontime show that will rival ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime, and GMA’s Eat Bulaga, The new show will feature Billy Crawford, Alex Gonzaga, K Brosas, Bayani Agbayani, KC Montero, Wacky Kiray, and Macoy Dubs as hosts.
- Rated Korina, 2nd incarnation of ABS-CBN’s Rated K, hosted by Korina Sanchez-Roxas.
- Oh, My Dad, a family sitcom featuring Ian Veneracion, Dimples Romana, Sue Ramirez, Louise Abuel, and Adrian Lindayag.
- I Got You, a romantic series starring RK Bagatsing, Beauty Gonzales, and Jane Oineza.
Also, Viva Entertainment revealed its line-up of TV shows as well in TV5
- Masked Singer Pilipinas, based on the hit Korean show King of Masked Singer. Hosted by Billy Crawford, and will be joined by Aga Muhlach, Matteo Guidicelli, Cristine Reyes, and Kim Molina as judges.
- Ghost Adventures, a horror series featuring Benjie Paras, Empoy Marquez, and Kylie Verzosa.
- Bella Bandida, a fantasy series starring Ryza Cenon.
- Kagat ng Dilim, The show first gained prominence in 2000 thanks to the genius Filipino director Erik Matti. Directors Richard Somes, Lawrence Fajardo, Paul Basinilio, and Rae Red take turns in directing stories based on dark tales featuring Filipino folklore, myths, and urban legends.
- Onstage, which will feature concerts of artists like Anne Curtis, Sarah Geronimo, Martin Nievera, and JaDine.
