There are different types of journey. Some are too rough, some might be quite smooth and some might be a transition of both. Human by its own nature has a high tolerance in pain and struggle. One person can be smiling today in front of you while having a ton of breakdowns at the back of it. Or maybe some has been taking a long leap in a throbbing experience from the past. Everyone needs healing. Take a quick ride below to see how can you be gentle with yourself while in a healing process.
More about “Your feelings are valid”
Have you heard the phrase “Your feelings are valid”? True enough that every feeling is valid. It might be anger, grief or happiness. All of them are valid. But dwelling in each of them is not quite healthy for the mental health. Imagine your heart drowning in anger for a very long time. It can conceive sickness in mental, physical and spiritual aspect. Embrace what you feel but do not dwell in it.
Acceptance
In order to begin brighter and avoid exhaustion from over thinking, one must have an acceptance for a better healing. Counselors said that a loss of love one or an extreme sudden loss of something is one of the hardest experience to accept. Acceptance takes time. As part of the healing process, it is a stage in which no one should rush for. On the other hand, once acceptance takes place; growth can be a gradual and good effect of it.
It’s not a linear process
Healing is not linear. It’s a roller coaster process where you might have thought at some point, you are ready to move forward or you have accepted everything. Well, it does not apply to all. Some people might have a higher tolerance of pain than you. And having said that it is not a straight line, it’s okay. Your healing is not meant to be perfect in order to become better.
Appreciate the process to heal
Learn to be grateful in all your small wins while healing. Little by little, small or big, it’s okay. Be gentle with yourself and do not rush your healing process. Appreciate your every step of the way. Appreciate those few who knows how to listen and support you. Especially those who do not tolerate you.
A call for help
If the above things are quite difficult to do and embrace, you deserve a guidance of a professional counselor. A friend and family who listens and supports you in this process is a good thing. The help of a guidance counselor too. They are the ones who know how to assess and check on you. These people will not force you but will guide you and help you grow.
Healing is a choice. It is something you do for yourself. It’s okay not to be okay but moving forward and becoming the best version of yourself is more essential. You do not do it for anyone else’s. It’s self-love that can radically affects everyone around you. Something that can radiate and help our society to become better. From here and there, rooting for your healing dear!
