During the campaign period, director Daryl Yap and comedian Ai Ai Delas Alas collaborated for a 'parody' campaign video entitled 'Mayora for Mike Defensor'. On the said video, Delas Alas played a character named Ligaya Delmonte which portrays the current and elected mayor of Quezon City, Mayor Joy Belmonte. The video also shows the official triangular seal of the city at the background with the names 'BBM and Sara' on the side. The video sparked laughter from the supporters of Yap and trended upon its publication on April 29.
With the 'disrespect' shown by Yap and Delas Alas, 4th District Councilor Ivy Lagman filed a resolution declaring the two personalities 'persona non grata' in Quezon City. On the resolution, she highlighted that,
"The malicious and unscrupulous defacing of the official seal of Quezon City ridiculed and dishonored it, causing insult to the noble representation of the seal."
"The people of Quezon City will not let anyone disgrace the official seal of Quezon City for personal and selfish interests." she added.
The Quezon City Council passed the resolution on June 7 which declares the Delas Alas and Yap officially persona non grata.
After passing the resolution, different opinions were seen from the netizens. Yap, the man behind the controversial Facebook Page Vincentements and a Marcos supporter received a lot of support from his huge number of followers.
Councilor Lagman posted a message on her Facebook page after receiving backlash for her resolution.
"Hindi ba dapat lang na ideklara na persona non grata sa QC ang mga at nambastos sa seal ng QC?" she stressed out.
"Maybe this will make all content creators think twice before posting anything on social media such as these videos. FYI Hindi po ito laban kay President-elect BBM and Vice President-elect Sara Duterte. Ito po ay patungkol sa paglapastang sa SEAL ng Quezon City." she added.
