What are the meal combos you tried to cook during this quarantine period?
Even though restaurants now allow 50% dine-in capacity, most people still resort to food delivery. Grab Food and Food Panda make it possible for us to enjoy our favorite fast food in the comforts of our home. It is notable to add that some people learned to experiment and cook different cuisine, from your favorite dish to more sophisticated recipes like cookies and pastries.
With the help of social media, learning to cook something new is made easier. The ingredients are also available in your nearest grocery or supermarket, with doable steps from cooking to preparing. A beginner cook can practice on these recipes.
Here are some of the food I ate during this season:
1. Vegetable Potato Fritters
My mom became fond of watching recipe videos on Youtube, and decided to try out this recipe. We did not use a tube for squeezing out the mixture into balls; instead, we did it manually then deep-fried it. After cooking, the fritter balls broke easily when poked with a fork, but it's still good! Potatoes plus vegetables like carrots and green onions make this meal a healthier one!

We also paired it with fried tofu, and to my surprise, it's a good combo.
2. Home Made Mojo Potatoes
We all love those chicken and mojos combination from a well-known pizza chain. If you're craving for this food fix, you can try it right at home. There are a lot of Mojo recipes available on Youtube, and here is one recommended recipe.
This version is soaked in milk, and after frying it, the potatoes turned golden brown and a little crispy. Tastes good on its own or together with a ketchup or mayo dip. It's a perfect side dish, together with chicken wings, cooked in any way you like it, whether it’s sweet or spicy wings. Just as good as dining out!
3, Kimchi Fried Rice
Anyone here who loves K-drama and Korean food? Kimchi Rice is easy to make, and the ingredients can be found in your nearest supermarket. We were able to cook it even without the Gojuchang (red chilli) paste, and it still came out well.
In this version of the recipe by Tochi Watanabe, the process of cooking Kimchi Fried Rice is like cooking our favorite version of fried rice. Red onions, leeks, and luncheon meat are tossed together and sautéed in unsalted butter, together with the kimchi, kimchi juice, and 3 cups of day old rice. Top it off with a sunny side up, and it's all good!
You can also substitute luncheon meat with ham or bacon.
These recipes are family-friendly. People of all ages can enjoy eating these suggested meals, thereby satisfying your foodie fix.
